SOSUEME Workshop. The goody bags. What I Got.

Hey guys so since i'm fairly back on track now that its September. So i'm now promising to try and blog now every weekend. So here's hoping I can stick to that. I have a few blog posts waiting so stay tuned.

Anyway, as you guys know from my last post, I recently attended the sosume workshop. To find out how i got on click here.

As you know part of the workshop package is a surprise goody bag so when I got there I was excited to see what I had received.

These are the goody bags

The bags were worth 50 each and had amazing products. Some of which were even on my wish list.
I got 8 products in total

What I Got:

So first off the dramatic lift Mascara.
After seeing sues review of this mascara i was really excited to try it. It looked amazing and i wanted to see if it was any competition for my trusty old they're real mascara.  Initially when I seen that it was in brown/black I was a little disappointed as I like my lashes to be super dark, however when I tried it on there was hardly a peek of brown just a reflect of it and I loved it. It made your lashes look naturally glossy once you applied a light coat but super dramatic with a heavier application. It fans out your lashes perfectly and coats every little hair effortlessly I think the shape of the wand also helps to slightly curl the lashes and combined with a volumising mascara its just a false lash effect without the falsies. Really good. As far as beating the they're real i'm not convinced yet. It does an amazing job but I think the they're real lengthens the lash just a bit more, but if like some people you hate a plastic wand this mascara is definitely the next best thing.

Another two products I was dying to try out after sues reviews where the two no7 highlighters I received.
The first of these was the instant radiance highlighter. Its a pan stick formula that glides on to the skin and can be blended out with fingers or a brush.  The formula itself is quite tacky and sticks well a bit like the stay flawless primer from benefit so for that reason it could be used under foundation as a glowing primer. Although works just as well on top of foundation. I feel its perfect for those of you with dry skin who feel powder highlighters tend to cake on the skin. The colour is a slightly rose gold sheen so it is fairly universal and you can build up intensity to give your skin a glowing sheen that will last all day.

How it looks on the skin. Look how it glows <3

Just like the instant radiance highlighter, the no7 skin illuminator radiance boosting beauty fluid can also be used under foundation or on top for a more intense look.  This formula is very liquidy almost a similar formula to the loreal lumi magique but less runny. Used under foundation or mixed into foundation you get a soft sheen to the skin, sounds corny, but as if lit from within. Apply a small amount on top of foundation along the cheekbones and you will get a gorgeous gold highlight. A real sunkissed bronzy look which i feel is perfect for a night out. The colour is a golden shade however it does have a slight pink undertone so again fairly universal. However I would say if you are super pale avoid it on top of foundation as it might be a bit too golden and will leave you looking muddy. However if your a false tan girl this will be your best friend as it gives your tan a healthy bronzed glow and can work on the body too if used sparingly, as will the instant radiance highlighter. Again I would recommend this to those with dry or dehydrated skin who don't like powder highlighters. An amazing product. Especially if your trying to cheat that kardashian glow. No7 really are proving to be an extremely underrated brand. Well worth a purchase.

Blended in here. Sneak peek of the jammies here lol

The next brand in the goody bag was wet 'n' wild. For me this is a relatively new brand since I only got a chance to use it when it came to Ireland and have to say what i've tried of it has been really good. I mean for the price point they're lipsticks are hard to beat and many of them are dupes for Mac. I especially love the spotlight red shade which is a dupe for mac russian red. Anyway with regards to the products in this bag I have mixed opinions. The green eyeliner, really disappointed me. The colour pay off was so not great at all. I mean it took a lot of work trying to build up intensity and then it just looked a bit lumpy and forget about using it in the waterline as theyre will be no visible colour at all. NOT a good product. However I am not one to bash a brand so perhaps it was just that particular shade.

As you can see the colour pay off is quite poor and this was with a few layers :(

However I loved the idol eye sticks. The colour payoff is amazing and super blendable perfect for incorporating a little colour into your eye makeup. They can be used as an eyeliner, a shadow or even a base colour all round amazing. These colours may not be that wearable for some people but i did find ways of incorporating them into eye looks and have used the blue one on a number of occassions to create one of my favourite eye looks. Would reccommend trying these out.

Colour swatch on skin.

Essence was another brand that featured in the goody bag. Essence has recently really upped their game with regards quality and these was seen in the two products I received. Firstly the eyeshadow was such a pretty girly colour. It was a baked eyeshadow with a frosty pink tone with a shimmery undertone. Very versatile and wearable and what I loved the most was that it was even wearable as a highlighter, and we know how much I love my  highlighter haha. I feel that this colour is perfect for a natural makeup look or when you just what that bright eyed, fresh look and I also felt it looked perfect place over a basic blush just to give it a hint of shimmer.

Colour on skin. As you can see its just a subtle sheen with a lovely sparkle

The lipgloss I received was also fantastic. The shade was the perfect tone not to pink and not to peach or orange toned so perfect for us fair-light girls, and works well with a bronzed complexion. As far as lipgloss goes the lasting power is fantastic. I can never seem to get a gloss to last (apart from mac glosses) and this one did until I ate. So that is very good and even at that there was still a visible trace so all around a good product.

The final product was the St, Moriz spray tan, and I have to say immediately I made the assumption that I would hate it because I had tried this brand of tan before and hated the colour it gave. It seemed almost a green tinge which did NOT look good. However at the workshop sue talked about how she was wearing this particular brand of tan on the day and it looked fantastic, as if it was a professional tan and she also stated that they had rejigged the formula to remove the green cast it gave. So after hearing this I thought why not try it out. I received it in the shade medium. I applied one layer and loved the colour however after washing it went much lighter so I applied a second layer and then rinsed of the cast again and I loved it. The colour was lovely and dark but not muddy and not too dark either. There was no green cast and it did'nt look orange. So for me it looked good. I usually don't go much darker than light but I did love it. It is buildable and again will suit light to medium skin tones. Furthermore, it washed well through the week with the help of cocoa brown tough stuff and st,tropez body buff.

How it looks on the skin. :P

I did not tan my hand here so you can see the colour of the tan.

I have to say suzanne gave a good bunch of goodies in this bag. Nothing but the best from sosume :) If you would like to see some looks I created with these products leave a comment below.

SOSUEME Workshop. My Experience

Hi guys, I'm sorry I've been away for so long but i had a lot going on including a family bereavement so its took me a while to get back into it, but anyway im back and have a few posts ready for the coming weeks. yaaaayyy :)

Anyway, recently I attended a workshop hosted by Suzanne Jackson from sosueme.ie. She is Irelands top blogger and is absolutely gorgeous. Both Personality wise and looks wise. I have followed her blog for the past few years and always admired her style, confidence and can do attitude, also her product reviews are always on point if there's a good review on her blog then its pretty much a guarantee that im going to love it. Anyway, long story short as soon as i seen her Instagram post about the workshop in Sligo i had to buy tickets. The tickets were 75 each, seems a little steep but after attending it, I have to say worth every penny. I attended the workshop with a friend and we both had a fab day.

The workshop started at 11am and went on till around 4pm on Sunday 19th July. When we got to the venue we were greeted by her lovely staff and then sent to get a photo taken for her blog by her boyfriend Dylan, who was on hand all day to snap the perfect picture for her. We were then told to sit were we like. The tables had platters of sweeties for us to help ourselves, as well as our jam packed goody bags. So of course I had a root and loved everything.

These are the goody bags ;)

Then it came time for her to make her entrance and as gorgeous as ever she took to the stage. Serious Outfit envy i must say. She wore a purplish/grey jumpsuit from Warehouse, (Get It Here) and a stunning pair of the notorious Valentino rock-stud heels, (Get It Here)  but of course these are not very budget friendly, however there are a number of copies such as these ones here.

Anyhow the day began with her talking about her background and how she got to where she is today. She cam across very genuine and down to earth which made her story so relatable. She then went on to talk about blogging and how to become successful. I found this very helpful and anyone starting blogging or thinking of doing so would find this a beneficial part of the day. After this there was a makeup tutorial by a makeup artist from inglot and talk on how she got the look on the day. During this part of the day she also talked about makeup trends such as strobing. Which i have previously done a post on. Check it out here.

This is the makeup artist and sue's sister Carla

Once the makeup tutorial was done there was a short break for lunch and we were all treated to afternoon tea which was delicious and really well presented. I felt super posh haha.

Once we got back into the workshop there was a mini fashion show were she showcased a few outfits she put together from warehouse and oasis. These were really nice and gave different ideas of how to style key fashion pieces. There was also a section of the day were she talked about classic wardrobe essentials, such as a plain white shirt. There was also a mini fashion show to show how these can be styled in a number of ways.

There was also a part of the day where she talked about her favourite  products for skin care, beauty and hair and gave great tips on budgeting for quality products and shops where these could be bought at discounted prices.

furthermore throughout the day we could ask her questions at any time and there was also a free nail bar for anybody who wanted to try out her new SOSU nail polishes. Which you can buy in penneys  or online Here.

At the end of the day there were a number of giveaways and a chance to have your photo taken with sue herself. There was also a chance to buy her brush collection by crown brush (Buy It Here) and also her new book (which you could have signed if you so wished) (Buy Here). There was none of her nail polishes for sale due to them being out of stock however she was kind enough to allow anyone who wanted to try them grab one or two from the nail bar, and of course I grabbed 2 to try out.

The 2 shades I chose.
Red = First Date.
Silver Glitter = All that glitters
anyway that's my feelings on the day. I really enjoyed it and feel like it was well worth the money. I met some lovely people and of course sue herself and I have to say with just starting this blog she has inspired me to continue and hopefully become successful. Also its a change and a different way to spend your Sunday. So if your thinking of attending, I hope this has helped you and encouraged you to head along. Why not. If you want to see my review of the goody bags and see what i got then leave a comment below and check back soon.

Bye Lovelies

Strobing 101

Hi dolls :)
So recently, Instagram and facebook has been blowing up with the new strobing trend. We are being bombarded with images of mega strobed faces and captions stating that this is the new contouring. But what exactly is strobing you ask?? Well i'm here to break it down for you.

So what is strobing??

Well simply speaking strobing is the process of highlighting our skin to give us a glow but taking it to the max. like highlighting your highlight hahah

Many of you are probably thinking aww no not another technique to learn. Or are wondering how the hell your going to make this work for you without looking totally ridiculous. Well honestly its not all that difficult and if you got your contour down your definitely good to go, as this is essentially a reverse contour.

So the emphasis of strobing is on getting extremely glowing dewy skin in an attempt to look more youthful and fresh. You start by applying a fresh dewy and illuminationg base and then apply your highlight product on top of this. There are 8-10 key points on the face where we should "Strobe" or highlight. However unlike with contouring techniques the highlight must be super shimmery or glowing not a matte shade.

So the 8-10 key points are :

  • The tops of the cheek bones
  • The tip of the nose
  • The cupids bow
  • The Chin
  • The forehead (Between the Brows)
  • The inner tear ducts
  • Above the Brow Arch and
  • Along the brow bone.
  • Under the cheekbones (Optional)
  • On the centre of the lower lip (Optional)

Here showing all key points
Key Points on my face

I told you this was extreme hahahah

So that's basically it and this is how it looks, and the look can be wore with a full on makeup look or just on its own so the focus is on the skin.

Here i have nothing on my face but the foundation and highlighter. Aaagghh them brows :P

Here is the look with my eye makeup & brows done and a touch of blush added :) #Transformed
Excuse the lighting these were taken at ten o'clock at night.

In my own opinion i like a good glow and think the goal is achieved in that you do get a more youthful fresh appearance however i don't think that it will out do classic contouring, simply because this look wont work for everyone particularly those with oily skin as it will end up looking greasy which is never attractive and it can also look very false if the wrong highlight shade is selected. But also killer cheekbones and structured features will never die out, in someways contouring has became the new red lip. So if you are panicking about not having your contouring technique perfected and now worrying about perfecting this. Stop!! There is still time.

I hope this was helpful and gives you an idea of how to get your glow on. :P

Happy Strobing

Dupe Alert!!! Charllotte Tilbury Filmstar Bronze & Glow vs W7 Holloywood Bronze & Glow

As consumers we are constantly searching for that perfect product, be that a highlighter that gives us a goddess glow or a lipstick that lasts for hours.
However, More often than not, this means expensive budget breaking buys & because of this we are often on the hunt for the perfect dupe of copy. Which is where I came across this little beauty.

This W7 palette is a great dupe for the Charlotte Tilbury Filmstar bronze & glow palette and only a fraction of the price.
After using a friends Charlotte Tilbury i always lusted after it but at a whopping €75 I couldn't justify adding it to my already huge bronzer and highlighter collection, but after seeing this super cheap dupe I couldn't pass on it.
At only €3.25 this product is a steal. The colour pay off is gorgeous and perfect on my fair skin.

In comparison to the Charlotte Tilbury product the packaging is much cheaper and a lot less fancy but the product itself is excellent. The bronzer is minutely less pigmented and the CT one is a little more finely milled, however the highlighter is just as pigmented and a perfect copy.

As you can see the CT packaging is much more more luxurious

Her showing how the w7 product looks on the skin

Here I'm using my friends CT palette here and you can see there is only a slight difference in colour  on the bronzer.

Usually i am not into shimmery bronzers however this was a welcome addition to my collection and rather than giving a sparkly finish it has more of a satin sheen which i loved and it looked flawless. It is also so hard to find a golden toned highlighter which compliments my skin tone but this gives the perfect glow to my skin. Kim K eat your heart out. hahah.

Here i am wearing the product. Ignore the awkward looking pose, wasn't ready and these are only photos i took :P

So for those of you looking for a golden glow PICK THIS UP. Especially you pale girls. Star Buy**
Buy It here: Cara Pharmacy Online and Amazon OR alternatively buy it in your local w7 stockist.
